Rising prices have increased the cost of living in Indonesia, reducing household purchasing power and creating financial pressure that may be associated with changes in consumer behavior. This study examines the associations among financial constraints, inflation-related worry, price-conscious coping behavior, product adjustment, and panic purchases among households in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) under perceived inflationary pressure. The React–Cope–Adapt (RCA) framework of Hamilton et al. (2019) is used as the main conceptual lens for organizing these constructs; the Theory of Planned Behavior is referred to only as supporting literature, since its core constructs were not measured. A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed using a structured online questionnaire distributed through Instagram and WhatsApp using purposive sampling. A total of 127 valid responses were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results show that financial constraints are positively associated with inflation-related worry, which in turn is positively associated with both price-conscious coping behavior and panic purchases; price-conscious coping behavior is positively associated with product adjustment. The direct association between financial constraints and price-conscious coping behavior was not statistically significant at the 5% level, and the indirect associations through inflation-related worry were significant. Because the design is cross-sectional and the sample is a purposive online sample, the findings describe associations within this sample rather than causal effects or the household population of Jabodetabek. The findings provide context-specific evidence on how economic pressure, psychological response, and purchasing behavior are related among Indonesian urban households, and offer practical input for businesses and policymakers addressing both the economic and psychological dimensions of rising prices.
