In facing the global economy Indonesia badly needs to strengthen its small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The foundation of strong SMEs is the people who are driven by the need to create something enduring and whose deep belief in the future gives meaning to their present. Contrary to popular belief, these people have been and always be avoiding "hit and run" business because they have a lot of confidence in the existence of a future. There were company builders but we never would have known it from what was being reported in the papers and on television and radio.

Business news consisted of the nightly commodity prices or the price of gold or the price of public securities. While these transactions were important for the flow of capital, it was a distortion to think that was what business was all about.

There was another, more important part that nobody was reporting - news about the people who were creating the companies that in turn were creating the wealth that could then be traded. We saw people starting phenomenal companies and coming up with great products, yet the average person was getting the misleading idea that business was the sum of transactions, rather than the sum of companies, products, and services that were being created.

After studying business magazine published in Indonesia, or Jakarta to be exact, I was frustrated to realized that some general business magazines were written more for company investors or professionals than for company builders. Then, as I Look around, I began to realize that I had come upon something very interesting. I could see a whole world of people who were creating companies that needed to be controlled, grown, and nurtured; yet none of the business magazines were written about or for them.

This entrepreneur magazine will be published to help people who are on the rocky voyage from the garage to the fully managed organization. Entrepreneurs are the more artistic members of the business community for them, business becomes a medium of creative expression. They use the elements of business to create a company much as writers use words to create stories or sculptors use clay to create statues. Then, as businesses grow, the company builders can set up an environment in which others can find fulfillment through the expression of their creativity and intelligence.

The beauty of publishing this magazine is not only will we create a business but also inherent in it is a social value that extended way beyond helping individuals. The world of company builders is the continuum, of economic creation in this country. It seems to me that we need to encourage a large number of entrepreneurs to work out if this process of creation and economic growth were to continue.

Entrepreneur magazine will be formed as a magazine specializing in informing and entertaining entrepreneurs or potential entrepreneur. Its founder is former employee of a printing company, who loves writing and working with creative business people. He is founding the magazine to implement his interest and ability for the benefit of his magazine's readers and advertisers, and business society as a whole.

This business plan will present a complete description of several activities that should be taken to publish the magazine. It will begin with a business description, followed by market analysis, business strategy, production plan, management plan, and eventually closed by a financial plan.
