The cassette coversion project is given by Ethicon Division of PT. Johnson & Johnson Medical Indonesia, a family member of Johnson & Johnson group companies. Cassette coversion program is conducted internationally, especially in countries where cassete suture is still used in human surgeries. The objective of the project is to give recommendation on how to increase market share of Ethicon precut suture in Indonesia from 55% of total precut market in 1995 to 80% (in value term) by the year of 2000 (note : market size in 1995 is elaborated furthermore in chapter 2). The objective is to be reached by converting the users of cassette suture to precut suture. Converting suture users (i.e. surgeons) from cassette to precut is aimed to be intermediary strategy before upgrading surgeons preference from precut suture to the more sophisticated (and more expensive) atraumatic suture.
