In general, land public transportation is categorized into two; intercity which connects one city to another and the intra-city, which provides services within a city boundaries, Intra-city transportation incll1des the areas surrounding the Kotamadya, although administratively they do not belong to the Kotamadya. This study covered intra-city land public transportation within Jakarta, Bandung, Bogor, including the areas surrounding them.





A joint effort program between the Government and the private sector in fact meets the needs for public transportation in Indonesia. After taking into consideration of the private sector's investment capabilities as well as infrastructure. capacities, the Government. then determines what areas are open for private involvement. In order to support that program the Government provides the necessary infrastrl1ctl1re, and also, issues the necessary regl1lations' to be used as its control mechanism. The Government involvement in that program, however, is mostly done through DLLAJR(Dinas Lalu Lintas Angkutan Jalan Raya).
