An entrepreneur is one who crates a new business in the face of risk and uncertainty for the purpose of achieving profit and growth, by identifying significant opportunities and assembling necessary resources to capitalize on them. Although many come up with grade business ideas, most of them never act on their ideas entrepreneurs do. Researchers have invested a great deal of time and effort of the last few decades trying to pay a clear picture of entreprenurial personality.
Of the 25 million businesses in the United States today, approximately 24.75 million, or 99 percent, can be considered "small". Small business is one that employes fewer than 100 people. One study by the small business administration concluded that small businesses are the leaders in offering training and advancement opportunities to workers. Small companies offer more general skills instruction and training than large ones, and their employees receive more benefits from the training than do those in larger firms that tend to be informal, in house and on the job. Small companies teach employees valuable skills, from written communication to computer literacy.
