The following report was prepared by IPMI's Group Field Project (GFP) for presentation to the management of hOngkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).
The GFP had been conducted by a team of six persons and was started in early November 1985, based on a Term of Reference that had been agreed upon by the Management of HSBC. The specific tasks assigned to IPMI's GFP were the following :
a. To analyze, evaluate and prepare a recommendation and justification for a strategy in retail banking
b. To develop detailed program and subsequent plan of action
c. To submit the above items in a final project written report
We had done analysis, and surveys in the industry, and had visited next to HSBC main & branch-offices, also other foreign banks, some state banks and national private banks, non-bank financial institutions and other institutions that had any dealings with the banking business in Indonesia.
