Shop & Drive is one of Astra Otoparts Retail Business Division which sells automobile part directly to customer. Shop&Drive operates as an automotive part store focusing on quick services in lubricants, battery and shock absorber.

Currently, Shop&Drive owns about 120 stores, which consists of Astra Own Store and Franchise Store. The automobile spare part business has a huge opportunity to grow considering rapid automotive industry growth.

This Group Field Project (GFP) objective is to form the future plan and to accelerate Shop&Drive's business strategy today and in the future.

Business strategy formulation is based on the analysis result of data obtained from survey, interview, questionnaire, market data, company data, observation and other sources.

The analysis conducted in this study includes industry analysis, internal analysis including core competences, and competitor analysis.

Survey is conducted to respondent of Shop Drive's customer, and non-Shop&Drive's customer including competitor's customer. Survey is also conducted to respondents of automotive parts shop and automotive workshop customers. These surveys were taken into two periods of times, on November 2010 and March 2011.

Internal Analysis includes resource strengths and weaknesses combined with external opportunities and threats to see the overview of whether Shop&Drive in overall situation is fundamentally healthy or unhealthy.

Franchise Analysis is benchmarking to other Franchisor system such as Alfamart, Circle K, Dealership Toyota and Mercedes Benz which covers stores operations, networking system, target of segment, customer profile, etc.

Industry Analysis is done by applying the Porter's Five Forces Theory analysis to identify the existence of Shop& Drive in the Spare Part Industry. The overall assessment of spare part retail industry becomes "less attractive".

Competitor analysis is based on five parameters namely current strategy, future goal, possibility to imitate, capabilities and assumptions. The result of business strategy formulation recommends Shop & Drive to position itself on focused cost leadership with strategic initiatives related to location of shops, promotion activities, marketing program, effective maintenance of the operation, SOP and employee compensation and benefit including training.
