Participant-Centered Learning and the Case Method is a three-CD multimedia resource for teachers interested in learning about or refining case-method teaching techniques. Eight Harvard Business School professors share their thoughts and insights on topics such as preparing to teach a discussion-based class, creating a climate for learning, and the importance of questioning, listening, and responding in the classroom. The set features shorter (1 to 3 minutes in length) insights from the professors, as well as three longer segments that offer the viewer (1) an introduction to the philosophy of discussion-based teaching, (2) a look at the challenges involved in transitioning your learning organization to participant-centered learning, and (3) a sample case study class based on HBS's R.R. Donnelley & Sons case, led by Professor David A. Garvin. Total video time is approximately 4 hours. Also included on the CDs are two introductory chapters from Education for Judgment: The Artistry of Discussion Leadership, which explain the key principles and strategies of discussion leadership and participant centered learning. For Windows only.
