This thesis reviews the warehouse management system in CV Arya Duta. It also provides
the best practice for company to increase its competitive advantage. Warehouse Management in
CV. Arya Duta is a function unit who is responsible for providing and managing the supply for
finished goods. To maintain continuous supply with the best quality product, the division is
supported by a production system that is composed of several activities. The most important one
is inventory management and storing process, which are heavily relay on warehouse capacity and
the use of the space effectively and efficiently.
On the process of writing the thesis, we found there are several problems. They are:
Which the utilization of warehouse capacity is not fully optimized. We also found that the
finished goods do not have good storage plan especially during peak season. The lack of storage
plan is due to no optimal placement of finished goods in the warehouse. The process is also done
in manual way that relies on the experience and skill of the employee for the time being.
By the end of the time, this situation can influence the continuous supply chain of the
finished goods. Based on our Thesis GFP, CV Arya Duta are need to continue improve new
system to remove the bottleneck in the process of searching, storing, and delivering finished
goods in warehouse. This research is begun by the understanding of Inventory Management,
especially the Warehouse Layout in this area. Then measuring the achievement of overall
optimization figure in one period and through the analysis toward the measurement’s result, the
main problem and the cause factors are obtained and clearly depicted in cause-and-effect
diagram from the existing system. All data we already gathered are obtained from observation,
interview with operator, supervisor and manager in warehouse division.
After analysing the current warehouse management in the company, there are some
analyses that can be obtained. Some of the analyses are: The current warehouse management
does not follow good warehouse practice. The current warehouse management is not able to
define the fast and slow moving items. The company depends heavily on people for the activities
inside the warehouse.
