One of most powerful forces driving Internet business today is also one of our most primal urges...the need to belong to a community.

Since its inception in the 1970s, the Internet has been about providing individuals with shared interests and goals a place to meet and collaborate, unrestricted by time or geographic distance. Over the past few years, a number of visionary companies have begun to exploit this unique quality of the Internet and have banded together into communities of commerce, agile, turn-on-a-dime business entities with unprecedented power to capture markets and build fierce customer loyalties.

In Communities of Commerce you learn all about this evolutionary leap in e-business, how it came to be, and how it is changing the way business is done both online and off. You find out why the most successful communities, including Cisco, Yahoo!, Amazon.com, iVillage, VerticalNet, Lands End, and MarthaStewart.com, work so well, and what you need to know to get in on this rapidly building economic wave.

Complete with in-depth case studies, helpful self-assessment tests and checklists, and powerful e-commerce evaluation tools, Communities of Commerce arms you with everything you need to develop and implement a winning community of commerce strategy in your organization.
