Helps to illustrate some of the impacts of computer aided design (CAD) on the architectural design process and the architectural industry. Explains how CAD is used in the interior space planning of large office buildings, showing the distinction between the role of the architect and that of the CAD operator. Highlights several themes: 1) the impact that CAD has had on the business, 2) the distinction between existing CAD systems which support the drafting/documentation function and the CAD software that is needed to support the creative aspects of the design process, and 3) the impacts that CAD technology may have on the role of the individual architect and the architectural profession as a whole.
