Our Group Field Project (GFP) identified the company turnaround by analyzing the shipping industry in global economic scope, Porter’s five forces, SWOT, financial ratio, turnaround management, hard and soft skill management.
Based on our analysis (Porter’s five forces, Industry and SWOT) we conclude that Cabotage Law has a significant impact to the company, especially for the protection, safeguard and support of national security in LNG industry, the competition is considered low among competitor. The company is still a big player in market because of the high opportunity in LNG market and Indonesian shipping industry is protected by Cabotage Law.
HITS liquidity ratio is lower than the average industry because the company liabilities is so high due to the legal dispute. Its profitability ratio is lower than average industry due to low revenue from the crisis in 2008. The company’s efficiency ratio is higher than the average industry. Overall financial ratio of company is lower than average industry.
The company turnaround is being achieved by solving the problems by restructuring the operation, business, and legal. During the turn around, the company had been trying to improve cashflow, profit and income, and to perform other initiatives, such as, solving internal problem regarding rightsizing the organization and implementing management change. Furthermore, the company has a plans to grab future opportunities.
