With the aim to increase the social welfare in North Jakarta, home of the largest population of poor community in Jakarta with lots of street children who cannot go to school and only a few of these children are able to enjoy education in formal schools and most of them spend their days begging for money for their survival. The authors believe that the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, to prepare them for this role, each and every child must have access to education and the opportunities to develop their future with good characters.
To support this, a charity and lecturing program is conducted for Taman Bermain Kemah Kasih Pademangan, a community development place for children to learn and developed their positive characters. The children mostly worked as beggars, food hawkers and garbage collectors. In order to run the charity program, the authors conduct a tote bag painting workshop at Hadiprana Art Centre, whereas it builds the participants’ sharing value which are the children coming from financially stable family towards the less fortunate children at Pademangan.
At the end, the sales of the tote bag will be collected. The funds then given in the form of sets of stationeries, snacks, and toys for each of the children in Taman Bermain Kemah Kasih.
