The Quantitative Business Analysis Casebook consists primarily of cases that we use in the required Quantitative Analysis (QA) course in the MBA program of the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. The QA course incorporates statistics, decision analysis, and management sciences, and is consistently rated by darden MBA students as one of the most effective and relevant courses in the required curriculum. In an era of wholesale curriculum reform that has put increasing pressure on quantitative courses to justify their presence in required MBA curricula, the required QA course at Darden is considered an integral part of the MBA curriculum by faculty by faculty, admnistration, and students alike.



This primary purposed of this instructor's manual is to help guide your use of the cases in the casebook. The cases in this Casebook have proven to be effective with respect to these two primary characteristics : we have used each successfully in our course. While all are decision-oriented and contextually rich, the cases are not all the same in terms of how they are most effectively used.These cases are better used after the methodology has been introduced.
